
Dillard University Women's Basketball recently announced the signing of Jasmine Archie, a 5'4" point guard transferring from Southeast Community College-Beatrice (Nebraska).
The incoming junior was the Defensive Player of the Year two years in a row while also earning NCCAC (Nebraska Community College Athletic Conference) Academic All-Conference honors.
Archie, the 2008-09 Sophomore Player of the Year , was a two-year starter at SCC and broke the school record for most assists in two seasons with 241 (109 in 2007-08 and 132 in 2008-09). The old record was 174, from 1978-80.
"We are excited to bring this caliber of player into our program," said DU head coach Kiki Barnes. "Jasmine has excelled on every level and she is going to make an immediate impact on our team, as well as in the conference."
Archie attended Omaha (NE) South High School, where she enjoyed a stellar career, finishing as the first player in program history to start every game (84) and post a triple-double (16 points, 11 assists, and 10 rebounds). She also holds records as the all-time leader in school history with 493 assists (5.9 apg) and 201 steals (2.4 spg).
