Men's Basketball - Sat, Feb. 23, 2013

The young men on Dillard's basketball team endured more growing pains with a 46-70 loss to Xavier University in the Convocation Center.  The Gold Rush jumped all over the Bleu Devils from tip-off and cruised to a 40-19 lead at the half on senior night.  With the loss, Dillard dropped its second straight game heading into the conference tourney.

The Gold Rush had four players who scored in double figures on a night where over 2,500 spectators watched.  Xavier's Denzell Erves led the way with 17 points, eight boards, three assists, one block and one steal, and Anthony Simmons had a strong game and finished with 13 points and four rebounds for Xavier. 

Wanto Joseph had a tramendous game, notching a double-double with 10 points and 10 assists in only 28 minutes of action for Xavier.

Dillard (3-20 overall, 2-12 GCAC) was led by freshman Jarrain Jenkins who had a team-high 13 points and also grabbed four rebounds and dished out two assists in 40 minutes of action.  Sophomore Jeremy Rixner held his own down low for the Bleu Devils as he finished with 12 points, four steals, two boards and one block in 33 minutes.

Sophomore Jordan Kilson filled the stat sheet for Dillard with 10 points, six assists, four steals and three rebounds in 35 minutes of action.

Next week the Bleu Devils will travel to Little Rock for the annual GCAC basketball tournament.  Their seed and opponent has yet to be determined.
