Loyola completed a season sweep with a 73-58 victory over the Bleu Devils. The inner city battle was played in the Battlefield on the campus of Dillard University. Junior Robert Lovaglio scored his 1,000th career point for the Wolf Pack as he finished with 22 points, four assists, three rebounds, two blocks and two steals in 35 minutes of action.
As a team the Bleu Devils (1-12 overall, 0-4 GCAC) struggled to find the basket in the first half, shooting just 30 percent from the field while Loyola shot 40 percent in the half. Freshman Jaquan Green was the high man for Dillard, scoring 14 points and adding four rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block. Sophomore Jordan Kilson finished the game with 12 points, four steals, three rebounds and three assists for the Bleu Devils while freshman Jarrain Jenkins ended up with 12 points, nine boards, two blocks and one steal. Dillard shot just 58 percent from the free throw line in its 10th straight loss.
Loyola's McCall Tomeny had a solid game with 22 points, five rebounds and one assist in 34 minutes, and sophomore Roland Szabo finished with four points, six boards, two huge blocks and one assist in 21 minutes of action.
The Bleu Devils resume conference play on Saturday, January 19 as they host Fisk University in the Battlefield. Tip-off is at 5:00 p.m.
