New Orleans, LA - The Dillard University men's track and field team placed first runner up at the GCAC Outdoor Track and Field Conference Championship that was held on Saturday, April 28, 2012.

The GCAC conference championship was hosted by Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO) at Tad Gormley Stadium in City Park. The Bleu Devils finished with 192 total team points.

The Bleu Devils' 4 x100 meter relay (41.63) and 4 x 400 meter (3.15.59) relay teams, who have already qualified for nationals, took first place in both events. The strength of the Dillard University men's track and field team in the running events was unmatched. The Bleu Devils placed in the top three in nine out of 12 events:

Nathaniel Barnett placed first in the men's triple jump (13.68m) and the men's long jump (6.57m) and placed second in the men's high jump (1.77m) earning him the most outstanding field performer award. Byron Caulton wasn't far behind with a second place finish in the men's triple jump (12.84) and a third place finish in the men's high jump (1.73m). Tobyus Simmons also placed third in the men's long jump with a jump of 6.48m.
