(New Orleans) The Dillard Bleu Devils stood strong in the first half looking like a team destined for their first victory of the season, but was unable to sustain the same intensity in the second half, and lost the Fisk Bulldogs 72-60 on Friday night on the Battlefield in Dent Hall.

The Dillard Bleu Devils look like a team poised to upset the Bulldogs throughout the first half. Fisk was able to grab the early lead on the Bleu Devils, only to see Dillard use an 8-2 run sparked by excellent team defense and offensive ball movement to tie the game up. The Bleu Devils grabbed their first lead of the game on at 16-15 on a three-pointer by Devonte Fernandez. The Bleu Devils were clicking on all cylinders, forcing the Bulldogs on their heels and scrambling for answers. Both teams traded baskets and Fisk was able to hold on to take a three point lead into the locker room at halftime at 39-36.

In the second half, the Bleu Devils were unable to sustain the same intensity out the gate and Fisk wasted little time to counter Dillard's mistakes. Turnovers by the Bleu Devils lead to easy transition baskets for Fisk. The Bulldogs were able to push their lead to 54-42, prompting a timeout by the Bleu Devils. Following the time out, the Bleu Devils continue to struggle with turnovers and stagnant offense, while Fisk connected on their shots to balloon the lead to as much as sixteen. Dillard made a run late to cut Fisk's lead to under ten, but it was too late and the Bulldogs closed out the victory.

Devonte Fernandez had a game-high 18 points and 6 assists for the Bleu Devils. Myron McGowan had 13 points and 4 rebounds for Dillard, while Zachary Harmon contributed 10 points and 9 rebounds.

The Bleu Devils will be back in action on Saturday, January 14th versus Philander Smith at 7:00p.m. The game will be on the Battlefield in Dent Hall on the campus of Dillard University.
