(New Orleans) The Dillard Lady Bleu Devils overcame a seventeen-point halftime deficit to come back and defeat the SUNO Lady Knights 67-64 on Saturday afternoon on the Battlefield in Dent Hall.

With the improbable come from behind victory, the Lady Bleu Devils remained undefeated in conference play (2-0) and are now just one game under .500 with an overall record of 5-6.

The Lady Bleu Devils did everything wrong in the first half to trail big to the Lady Knights. The Lady Bleu Devils looked rusty on offense and confused on defense. SUNO was able to capitalize on the Lady Bleu Devils' miscues, scoring in transition off Dillard's turnovers. SUNO (1-1, 3-6) lead 19-11 midway through the first half, prompting the Lady Bleu Devils to call timeout. Following the timeout, the Lady Knights continued to score at will against the Lady Bleu Devils, closing the half on a 16-3 run to lead big at halftime 31-14 over Dillard.

The Lady Bleu Devils came out a completely different team in the second half, clamping down on defense against the Lady Knights and scoring with ease. SUNO lead 37-23 with fourteen minutes remaining in the game until the Lady Bleu Devils went on an 18-6 run to close to within two points at 41-43. The Blue Devils' suffocating defense was too much for Lady Knights to handle.

The Lady Bleu Devils completed their amazing comeback with 6:05 remaining in the second half, tying the game at 45-45 on two free throws by Jazzmin Smith. From there, the Lady Bleu Devils seized the opportunity to steal the game and took their first lead at 54-52 on a layup by Monique Waiters with 3:16 remaining. Brittney Smith's three-pointer gave the Lady Bleu Devils their largest lead of the game at 60-56 with 1:40 remaining to ice the game for Dillard. The Lady Bleu Devils would play mistake-free basketball the rest of the way and hit their free-throws to complete their dramatic comeback win.

Jazzmin Smith led the Lady Bleu Devils with 21 points and 8 rebounds in the victory. Lauren Daniel and Ariel Mitchell chipped in with 18 points and 5 rebounds apiece for the Lady Bleu Devils. As a team, Dillard shot a blistering 55% from the field in the second half, including 75% from behind the arc.

The Lady Bleu Devils will have almost a week off before taking on another conference foe in Fisk University on Friday, January 13th at 5:30p.m. on the Battlefield in Dent Hall.
