(New Orleans) The Dillard Bleu Devils lost to Westminster College 73-59 on the opening day of the Big Easy Challenge on Wednesday night at the Alario Center.

The Bleu Devils(0-9) battled the Griffins, who are ranked 10th nationally, from beginning to end. 

Dillard played a solid first half of basketball, trailing by only eleven at 41-30 at the break. As a team, the Bleu Devils shot 43% from the field in the first half. Terry Church came off the bench to lead the Bleu Devils with 9 points in the first half.

In the second half, the Griffins were able to maintain the lead they had built on the Bleu Devils in the first half. With eleven minutes left, a three-point play by the Bleu Devils' Troy Bertand cut Westminster College's lead to nine at 58-49, but Dillard was unable to get any closer.

Terry Church led the Bleu Devils with 12 points, while Myron McGowan contributed 11 points and 3 rebounds. 

The Bleu Devils will conclude their play in the Big Easy Challenge on Friday, December 30th versus 7th ranked Texas-Wesleyan College at 2:00p.m. at the Alario Center.
