(New Orleans) The Dillard Lady Bleu Devils lost in heartbreaking fashion to the

Spring Hill College Lady Badgers 51-49 on Tuesday night on the Battlefield in Dent Hall.

After leading for most of the game, the Lady Bleu Devils' missed a last second shot that would have sent the game into overtime.

The Lady Bleu Devils' owned the Lady Badgers for most of the first half. Using a suffocating defense and solid outside shooting, the Lady Bleu Devils' led by as much as seven points after five points in a row by Ariel Mitchell. Spring Hill fought back to close to within two points late in the first half, but a jumper by Lauren Daniel sent the Lady Bleu Devils into the locker room with a 25-21 lead at the break. 

In the second half, Jasmine Harbor's second three-pointer of the game gave the Lady Bleu Devils an eight point lead with twelve minutes left. Spring Hill battled back to grab a 51-49 lead with 11 seconds left. The Lady Bleu Devils last shot bounced off the rim and the Lady Badgers escaped with the victory. Jazzmin Smith led the Lady Bleu Devils with 12 points and 9 rebounds. The Lady Bleu Devils finished with four players in double figures for in points for game. Lauren Daniel continued her stellar all-around play with 11 points 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the Lady Bleu Devils.

The Lady Bleu Devils will be back in action on Thursday, December 1st versus UNO on the Battlefield in Dent Hall at 5:30p.m. It will be "AIDS Awareness Night" on the Battlefield.
