(New Orleans) The Dillard University Men's Basketball Team lost to the Loyola University Wolfpack 65-39 in their season opener at home Monday night on the Battlefield in Dent Hall.

The Bleu Devils' achilles heal this early part of the season has been their poor shooting, which came back to bit them again on Monday night.

The Bleu Devils had an uphill battle to climb from the opening tip. Trailing early at 11-6, the Wolfpack were able to capitalize off the Bleu Devils missed shots, getting transition points to build on their early lead. A three-pointer by Loyola's Corey Gray gave the Wolfpack their largest lead of the first half at 20-9. Dillard's Terry Church sparked a 9-0 run by the Bleu Devils, sinking a 3-pointer from deep and converting a 3-point play from the free-throw line. The Bleu Devils trailed by two at 20-18 at that point.

Loyola responded with an 11-0 run of their own and went into the locker room up by thirteen 35-22 at half. The Bleu Devils shot 29% from the field in the first half while committing 14 turnovers.

In the second half, the Bleu Devils offense continued to struggle to score points. Loyola scored off time baskets and solid outside shooting to cruise to the victory. Terry Church led the Bleu Devils with 15 points and 4 rebounds. Cameron Hill contributed 11 points and 5 rebounds.

The Bleu Devils will celebrate "Homecoming" on Saturday, November 19th versus Texas College at 3:00p.m. on the Battlefield in Dent Hall.
