Up by four at the break (32-28), Belhaven went on a 14-0 run, at the top of the second half, to throw Dillard off pace. By the 14:30 mark, the Lady Blazers had amassed an 18-point lead, 46-28. Also playing a factor was a poor performance at the charity stripe. The Lady Bleu Devils went 16-33 for 48.5 percent, while Belhaven shot 14-21 for 66.7 percent.
Alrieon Bevins led DU with 11 points, along with seven rebounds. Guylene Nsiewe was the leading rebounder, with eight.
Belhaven had three players in double-figures - Stasha Thomas (16 points, seven rebounds), Jira Williams (14) and Sarah Carr (10).
With the win, the Lady Blazers move on to face the No. 1 seeded Xavier Gold Nuggets at The Barn on Wednesday, March 3 at 7 p.m. Belhaven and Dillard were the No. 8 and 9 seeds, respectively.
