TiKandis Edwards scored a game-high 33 points, 19 in the second half, to insure the game was out of reach for the Lady Bleu Devils. But it was Renalda Stafford's 3-pointer at 7:50 in the first half that gave the Lady Pilots their first lead, which they held for the rest of the contest. The halftime score was 40-33.
Coming off a league win against Tougaloo, earlier in the week, the women were hoping to take a win streak into the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Tournament, which begins March 1. Dillard will face the Lady Blazers of Belhaven (13-15, 4-13) for a play-in game on Monday at Rugg Arena, in Jackson, Miss.
Jazzmin Smith and Ariel Mitchell contributed 11 points apiece for the Lady Bleu Devils. Smith also threw in a team-best six rebounds.
For LSUS, Valerie Huizar scored 14 points and Stafford finished with 11. Edwards posted a double-double, adding 14 rebounds to her scoring effort.
With the win, LSUS finishes the regular season in second place in the GCAC behind the Xavier Gold Nuggets, who went undefeated in conference play at 18-0, winning 18 games in a row.
Game time for the GCAC play-in game was unavailable at press time.
