New Orleans, LA - NAIA No. 5 LSU-Shreveport (18-2, 7-1) defeated the Dillard Bleu Devils (2-12, 0-8) in Gulf Coast Athletic Conference action Thursday night at Dent Gym.  The loss leaves DU still searching for win before the 2009-2010 campaign runs out.

 
In first half action, Dillard shot almost 36 percent from 3-point range and went 8 of 10 from the free throw line, while marking a season-low four turnovers for a 37-31 halftime lead.  In the second half, the teams seesawed back and forth, tying the game six times before the Pilots' Jared
 
Stevenson sunk a 3-pointer to give them a 64-61 lead, with 2:43 remaining. 

The Bleu Devils fought hard, getting to within three points, twice, the last time with just 14 seconds left when Cornice Wingate went 1 of 2 from the charity stripe, making the score 66-69.  With nine seconds on the clock, Wingate was forced to foul Brance Davenport, who hit the second of two shots to seal the deal, 70-66.

Autrail Manning and Donald Fondel finished with 12 points apiece for Dillard, James Burkes chipped in 10. Mico Sjekloca added nine points and a team-high eight rebounds.

Pacing the Pilots was Derrick Parker, with 13 points and 15 rebounds.  He was followed by Davenport, Stevenson and Isiah Bazile, who had 10 points each.

Dillard will host the Xavier University Gold Rush (11-9, 2-6) in the 2010 Bleu Devil Classic at Lakefront Arena on Saturday, January 30.  Tipoff time is 7 p.m.
