New Orleans, LA - The Lady Bleu Devils (8-10, 1-7) shot 43 percent in the first period, but dropped to 20 percent in the second half to hand LSU-Shreveport (13-3, 6-2) a 69-55 Gulf Coast Athletic Conference win Thursday night at Dent Gym.
In first half action, Dillard took the lead at 12:26 on a 3-pointer by Syrena Edwards. Near the close of the period, DU had a 10 point lead, but it was cut by Valerie Huizar's 3-point basket and the women had to settle for a 39-32 halftime score.
Starting the second half, the Lady Bleu Devils posted fouls while the Lady Pilots posted field goals and, by 18:28, LSUS was within one, 38-39. Moments later, though, Tish Flowers made contact with Dillard's Ariel Mitchell, sending her to the line for two shots.
