New Orleans, LA - The Lady Bleu Devils (8-9, 1-6) were handed a 65-55 Gulf Coast Athletic Conference loss by Southern University at New Orleans (9-4, 3-4) at The Castle, Monday night.  It was the third consecutive league loss for Dillard.

Defensively, the Lady Bleu Devils outperformed Lady Knights, picking up 17 steals and forcing 29 SUNO turnovers, which helped DU to a 28-24 advantage at the break.  But, with much of Dillard's efforts coming in the first half, SUNO was able to gain the lead early in the second period.  The Lady Knights tied the game at 18:55, 28-28, and never looked back.

Pacing Dillard in scoring was Ariel Mitchell, with 15 points, and Nadine Wallace added 11 points.  J'Ashala Haynes had a team-high 10 rebounds.  DU pulled down 22 offensive rebounds, its most this season. However, as a team, the women also logged their poorest scoring effort of the year, shooting a season-low 25 percent.

LaTiondra Smith led SUNO with 16 points, while Jessica Adams put up 14.  The Lady Knights had a game-high eight blocks, as a team.

The Dillard women return home to host GCAC No. 2 Louisiana State University-Shreveport (12-3, 5-2) at Dent Gym, Thursday, January 28.  Game time is 5:30 p.m.
