New Orleans, LA - The Dillard Lady Bleu Devils (8-6, 1-3) fell to NCAA-Division III Louisiana College (12-2) 67-53, Monday night at Dent Gym.

Leading 30-26 at halftime, the Dillard women appeared poised to win their second game in a row.  But, with the Lady Bleu Devils scoring was on freeze through the first eight minutes of the second half, the Lady Wildcats went on a 10-0 run before Ariel Mitchell got to the free throw line for two shots on a foul by Natosha Gottlieb.

At the 8:52 mark, Dillard's Jessica Small fouled Tillisha Givens, sending her to the charity stripe for two bonus points.  Givens converted, giving Louisiana its first double-digit lead, 44-34.  The frigid rim and poor board work made for a bad combination and the Lady Wildcats pressed their way to a 16-point lead (67-51), with less than a minute remaining. Alrieon Bevins hit the final shot of the game for DU, to make the score 67-53.

While Dillard made fewer turnovers than Louisiana, 21-28, the Lady Wildcats outrebounded them by 20, 55-35.  Mitchell led the Lady Bleu Devils with 19 points and five steals, followed by Naomi Greene with 11 points.  Lai'Ana Gill and Guylene Nsiewe had seven rebounds apiece.

Louisiana recorded two double-doubles as Givens led all scorers with 25 points, along with 11 rebounds.  Voneshia Williams added 16 points and a game-high 17 rebounds, and Christy Pantallion had 11 points, nine boards and five steals for the Lady Wildcats.

Dillard will get back to conference action in Jackson, Miss., on Thursday, January 21, against Tougaloo College.  Game time is 5:30 p.m. at the Owens Health and Wellness Center.
