New Orleans, LA - The Dillard Lady Bleu Devils (7-4, 0-2) dropped their second straight Gulf Coast Athletic Conference game to the University of Mobile 69-64, Saturday night at Dent Gym.  The Lady Rams (10-2, 2-0) are ranked first in the GCAC.

Coming off the bench, Guylene Nsiewe helped spark DU to a 34-28 halftime lead.  She scored just six points, but they were critical down the first half stretch, as Dillard remained tied or behind for nearly three minutes before she hit the go-ahead bucket at 7:56, putting her team up 23-21.  A few minutes later, Nsiewe hit another shot and then blocked Mobile's Alyscia Jordan with Dillard up 30-23.

In the second period, the Lady Bleu Devils dug themselves a hole taking nearly five and a half minutes to score.  Again, bench play aided in keeping them in the game as Lai'Ana Gill went to work on both sides of the ball. Her 11 points and team-high six rebounds included a tie and two leads by the 4:00 mark.

In the last two minutes, the Dillard women appeared to come unglued and the Lady Rams went on a quick 6-0 run, making the score 66-60.  It was just enough to keep the Lady Bleu Devils at bay.  The game ended on a missed 3-pointer by Lauren Daniel.

Ariel Mitchell led DU scorers with 21 points and three steals, followed by Jazzmin Smith with 12.  Alrieon Bevins had eight points and a game-high six assists.

Mobile had three players in double-figures, led by Davina Jefferson, who had 24 and nine rebounds.  Alice Honnery scored 15 points and grabbed eight boards, and Morgan Melancon went 4-10 from 3-point range for 14 points.

The Lady Bleu Devils (7-4, 0-2) will hit the road to Hattiesburg, Miss., on January 14, to play GCAC opponent William Carey.  Game time is 5:30 p.m. at Clinton Gymnasium.
