New Orleans, LA - Ariel Mitchell scored a season-high 22 points and the Dillard Lady Bleu Devils posted a 47-point homecoming victory (88-41) over Allen University, Saturday at Dent Gym, to remain unbeaten for the season, 4-0.
Traveling from Columbia, SC, with only seven players, the Yellow Jackets could not hold the Lady Bleu Devils, who ran early and often amassing a 24-point lead to end the first half, 44-20. Mitchell only played 21 minutes, as coach Kiki Baker Barnes went to her bench to keep the defensive tempo, resulting in 29 AU turnovers.
Dillard's Jazzmin Smith scored 13 points, followed by Lai'Ana Gill with 11 and Lauren Daniel with 10. J'Ashala Haynes grabbed a team-high seven rebounds and Naomi Greene had six steals. Shantel Perkins led Allen with 15 points and six boards.
The Lady Bleu Devils (4-0) will next play in the Xavier Classic Tournament, over the Thanksgiving holiday. On Thursday, November 26, Dillard takes on Tuskegee University at 5 p.m., and on Friday, the women face Texas College for the second time this season, at 1 p.m. All games will be played at The Barn.
