New Orleans, LA - The Dillard volleyball team opened the first day of the 2009 Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) Volleyball Tournament with a loss to No.1 seed Mobile and a win over No. 5 seed Spring Hill on Friday, November 13 in Mobile, Ala.  The tournament is hosted by Mobile.

In its first match of the day, Dillard was swept by the Lady Rams 3-0 by match scores of 25-14, 25-6 and 25-14.  Jessica Goods-Morris led the team with six kills, but also had six attack errors.  Defensively, she posted the team's only three solo blocks.  Zorana Piljevic had eight digs.

In the Lady Bleu Devils second match of the day they avenged the loss by defeating Spring Hill in a three-game sweep by scores of 25-17, 25-16 and 25-18.  No individual statistics were available at press time. 

The split means DU will see semifinal action tomorrow against the Loyola Wolfpack at 12 noon.  The Pack won both GCAC matches during the regular season.  The final championship tournament match will be played at 4 p.m., at Pharr Gymnasium.
