New Orleans, LA - The Dillard women's volleyball team has earned the No. 3 seed for the 2009 Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) Tournament and will play a quarterfinal round match against the University of Mobile, the host and top seed in the six-team tournament, at 1 p.m., Friday, Nov. 13.

The Lady Bleu Devils finished the season with a conference record of 5-5 and tied for third place with Belhaven, improving their 2008 mark of 2-6, for fourth place.  By defeating Belhaven twice during the regular season, Dillard was seeded above the Lady Blazers.  Overall, DU improved by two matches from 7-17, last season, to 9-11. 

At 5 p.m., Friday, Dillard faces Spring Hill (3-7, 8-14); whom they split matches with during regular league play.  The tournament pairings are split into two pools, A & B, with Dillard falling in Pool A.  The semifinal rounds will be played on Saturday at 10 a.m. and 12 noon, with the conference tournament final scheduled for a 4 p.m. start.

Through 20 regular season games, the Lady Bleu Devils were led in kills by sophomore Jessica Goods-Morris with 165, followed by freshman Paula Ogbevoen with 145.  Junior Danta Cobb led the team with 22 service aces; and with 242, freshman Yladrea Marshall was the digs leader.
