(New Orleans) Despite trailing 17-1 to open the game, the Bleu Devils overcame adversity on "Senior Night" and showed why they are the nation's seventh ranked team in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics with an 80-71 victory over Stillman College at the Battlefield in Dent Hall. The loss snaps Stillman's nine-game win streak.

Dillard (21-7, 10-1 GCAC) trailed big in the first half before storming back with a 32-8 run to close out the half. The Bleu Devils were led by senior All-American Demetric Austin (SR/Washington, D.C.) who had a game-high 22 points on 9-of-18 shooting from the field while converting on 3-of-5 from the charity stripe. Austin also had 11 rebounds, producing his team's only double-double while teammate Jessie Ward (SO/Maringouin, La.) came off the bench to score 18 huge points for Dillard, hitting 4-of-6 shots from the field and 7-of-8 from the free-throw line in the victory. Junior transfer Quinton Jackson (JR/Cambridge, Md.) had a solid game and scored 14 points, dished out five assists and grabbed three boards for Dillard while senior Dennis Hightower (SR/Daniville, Ill.) finished with eight points and three assists.

As a team the Bleu Devils shot over 48 percent from the field and scored 19 points off turnovers. Dillard's bench outscored Stillman's bench 26-7 and forced 19 turnovers.

Stillman's Melvin Brown finished with a team-high 18 points and ten rebounds in the loss while teammate point guard Shomari Triggs scored 17 points for the Tigers.

The men return to action on Monday, February 27 as they travel to Jackson, Miss. to face Tougaloo College in their final game of the regular season. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. on Lundi Gras.
