(New Orleans) Dillard avenged an earlier loss at the buzzer to the Gold Nuggets by defeating Xavier by the score of 69-64 at the Battlefield in Dent Hall in the 2017 Allstate Sugar Bowl Bleu Devil Classic.

Dillard (16-7, 8-3 GCAC) was led by the splash sisters Shaelynn Moore (SO/Houston, Texas) and Alyssa Washington (SO/Austin, Texas) who finished with 16 points and 12 points respectively. Washington added 10 boards, four assists and two steals while Moore grabbed five rebounds and dished out three assists in 37 minute of action, but the surprise of the night came from freshman Makeedah Collins (FR/Houston, Texas) who came off the bench and finished with 13 points and buried three 3-pointers for the Lady Bleu Devils, who sit at second place behind Talladega in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference.

The Gold Nuggets were led by Kelsee Singleton who finished with 11 points and five rebounds in the loss. She is remember for breaking the hearts of Dillard fans with a game-winning buzzer beater at last month's Crosstown Classic, but was slowed down by the stingy Lady Bleu Devils defense, scoring only three buckets all afternoon.

As a team Dillard shot nearly 50 percent from the field while holding the opposition to just 36 percent. The Lady Bleu Devils nailed 8-of-15 shots from behind the arc while the Gold Nuggets hit just 5-of-24 shots from 3-point land.

The ladies return to action on Monday, February 20 as they travel to Tyler, Texas, to face Texas College in non-conference action. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
